Something you gotta do! Pay Sales Tax!

Today is April 1st which means it is not only April Fool's Day, but it is also the day we are to raise our sales and use tax here in the state of California. David and I have been working on our taxes and going through all of the necessary documents in order to prepare for this day and for the dreaded April 15th deadline. Yes, it makes us quite angry that we have to pay an additional 1%, but there is nothing we can do. If we don't collect the proper taxes, we could be in a huge heap of trouble.
So, with that said, if you are a past, present or future client of Tira J Photography, we had to raise the sales tax on all of our products and services. The new sales tax for the county we live in is 8.75%.
According to the document we received, this tax increase could go until July 1, 2011 or July 1, 2012 depending upon whether the voters approve the proposed Budget Stabilization constitutional amendment in a statewide election to be held on May 19, 2009.
And as we have been working on the taxes, we have found these helpful documents for California Business owners and Photographers. I know that many photographers periodically visit my blog, so these links are for you!
This is a fantastic document for photographers. It will open in a new window and download. Warning - it is a 51 page document, but extremely helpful!
