Walk Through A Wedding: Orange County

A few weeks back, I had the awesome opportunity to attend Justin & Mary Marantz' Walk Through A Wedding Workshop in Orange County. I know what ya'all are saying, "Tira J, you aren't a wedding photographer any longer, what the heck?" Right, well, I have news for all of you, most of what I have learned, I have learned from some of the TOP wedding photographers, and I am eternally grateful to them for the knowledge and wisdom they have poured into me over the past few years.

Justin and Mary Marantz are an amazing couple from Connecticut, where they apparently don't grow grapefruits. That's a little inside joke for Mary. Anyways, I remember when I found Justin and Mary way back when. When they were newly married, and I was sitting at the dining room table, and supposedly working on a huge paper for graduate school. Instead, I was blog surfing, found them, immediately fell in love, and I have been following them ever since.

This workshop was AWESOME, and if you are a wedding photographer, and haven't attended a workshop to help improve your wedding skills, this is the one you should attend. They will take you through a wedding from beginning to end and explain the how's, why's and when of everything they do. Their images, workflow and personalities are stellar and unforgettable, so you should really inquire!

Again, I only do weddings by special request these days, but the knowledge, wisdom and skills that I learned from this workshop were amazing and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I can assure you that the skills I learned from this workshop have already been incorporated into my portrait photography.

*Thank you Justin and Mary for all that you do for our entire industry, specifically for sharing your love for every single one of us. I love you two so much, just as much as a sliced grapefruit from the tree in my backyard. Can't wait for you guys to come back to California to actually see the tree in person. Lots of hugs and blessings to you both. xoxo
The details were awesome throughout the day. If you look at the images above, the one in the bottom left is of Mary's ring. I had never used a macro lens, so this was the first image I took with one that I borrowed from a friend that day. A few days later, I bought one of my own that I will be using for my little newborns.

Isn't Angela gorgeous in the images below?

A special note for photographers, ALL of the images in this post were shot with my Canon EF 50 mm f/1.2 lens at 1.2. Justin and Mary encouraged us to shoot wide open the entire day, which I LOVED so much! Shooting wide open makes me happy!
Josh and Angela are gorgeous!
The sunset in Laguna was just perfect, so the light hitting their faces was gorgeous.
Some of the details below that Miss Julia put together.
A perfect sunset for a perfect couple!
