Krista: Bonita High School Senior Portraits

Meet Krista! She is a senior at Bonita High School in La Verne and will be graduating in June. She has big plans to go to Azusa Pacific University and then go on to make a huge difference in the world. Krista's senior portraits were a little unique in the sense that we tied some family shots in there towards the end. And, that they were so laid back, I felt like a beach bum just kicking it with some friends. Not really, but you catch my drift. Every year since 1980, Krista's parents have been staying at a time share in Laguna Beach, and it is there that they can reconnect as a family and relax on the beach. So, shooting Krista's senior portraits here was a special time for both she and her family.
Before we did the family shots, Krista, Mandy and I made a few trips up and down Laguna Beach and found some unique places to shoot. Minus the tar on our feet (mostly mine) it was a fantastic afternoon. I just love to photograph siblings because they know how to make each other laugh, smile, and just be themselves, and that is what Mandy and Krista did for each other the entire afternoon.
*Krista, it was so great to finally meet you and spend the afternoon with you. I can't wait to see you on the campus at APU and watch you flourish! To Marilyn, Chris and Mandy ~ thank you for everything, and especially for making me laugh A LOT! You are an awesome family and I seriously felt right at home from the moment I arrived to the time I left. Blessings, Tira J. |

Noah Douglas: One Year - pt. 1

| We wished him Happy "1st" Birthday in March and now it is hard to believe that he is so big. Noah Douglas is almost walking on his own, getting more and more teeth every day, and is becoming even more handsome every day. Early last week, I met up with Marsha and Noah to his first year portraits and Dave (Dad) met us a little later. If you remember, Last week was when we had that crazy heat wave, and it was still 90 degrees when we met at 5 p.m. So, needless to say, our little Noah didn't do to well. However, I was able to capture some great shots of him and we will definitely be doing a part 2 do his session. |

| Below is a new feature I am showing off on my blog today and it showcases some of my favorite images. My super talented programmer and designer created these galleries for me and gave me the option to embed them into my post which is way cool. Just hit play!!! You can view more galleries by going up to the top of the blog under galleries. Moving forward you will see more of the gallery feature. Have a beautiful Sunday! |

Glendora High School Senior Portraits: Oscar

You saw a sneak peek of him on Monday and now his complete post is finally here. He is ONE CRAZY KID! Meet my new friend Oscar!
Oscar is actually Brianne's boyfriend and a senior at Glendora High School and when I heard that he was a major extrovert, I knew we would hit it off in a major way. We met at University of La Verne because that is where Oscar is going to college in the fall, and he wanted a fresh environment for his session. I had never been on the campus, and I must say, that they have some beautiful grounds. Great idea Oscar! He loves to play football and will be playing for La Verne in the fall, and he loves to work out. He isn't sure what his major is going to be quite yet, so I told him that maybe they had a major for modeling? He was a true model and my camera fell in love with him. We totally hit it off during our session, and I cannot wait to have the opportunity to photograph him again. He is funny, loves to laugh, and has this crazy signature pose that you will see when you watch the slideshow.
**Oscar, thank you for a major fun afternoon! I know that God is going to do some great things in your life as you transition from high school to college. Steve and Mary, you have an awesome son, and it was a true delight to spend time with you as well. Blessings, Tira J.

How do you know so and so?

This morning on my way to work, I was thinking about a few messages I received on facebook recently. Some of my friends have asked how I know so and so? Ha ha!
You see, on facebook, they have this great feature to show you how many friends you may have in common with another person. For example, my friend Brandon and I have 41 friends in common, and then there is Dr. Jon Wallace, the President of APU. He and I have 139 friends in common. What in the world? I attribute my small world to the fact that I have lived in Southern California my entire life, pretty much along the 210 freeway corridor. And more importantly, I LOVE MY FRIENDS and CLIENTS!
So, when you never move away from your roots, plan your 20 year high school reunion, work at an amazing institution, and your Mom still lives in the house you grew up in, the world is small. One of my facebook friends by the name of Gina who I went to high school with asked me how I knew one of the pastors at her church. Wow! That was a long time ago. I went to church with Matt before he probably even considered being a pastor. My friend Tim who I go to church with, has a great insurance man who is one of my high school classmates, and one of my classmates from my undergraduate program was one of my employees when I worked in retail. And then there was my friend John, who asked how I knew two of my friends fathers, who he knew over 20 years ago at Lake Avenue Church. I also attribute the small world or "three degrees of Tira" to the church families I have belonged to over the years. In my single days, I went to Church of the Open Door right after it moved to the hillside from downtown Los Angeles, then I went to Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena for a LONG TIME! David and I went to Paz Naz while we were dating and were married there, and now we are back at Church of the Open Door. I am thankful to our Lord and Savior for keeping his circle such a tight knit group. I think that as long as you have your brothers and sisters in Christ, you will have friends forever. There are so many crazy instances of how I know people from different circles and my husband goes crazy when we go somewhere and I see someone I know. I can't help it!
And I probably would not have gotten this far in my photography business had it not been for oh let's see, my friend who is now my supervisor, whose wedding photographer was his friend in college Melissa, who grew up with DJ, who photographed Jasmine's wedding, and her sisters friend is one of my coworkers? Yikes, that is a crazy circle of friends!

Thank you to all of my friends, new and old for keeping the circle of friendship alive!
How big or small is your circle? |

Monkey'ing around!

I hope you all had a great weekend! I really do love the hot weather, as I have always wanted to live in Arizona, because of the dry heat, minus the humidity I grew up with during those long Nebraska summers. Get out and enjoy the weather! We are in the process of sprucing up our patio and back yard in preparation for Jennie's graduation party, and weather has been great.
This is what happens when you have a great location, great weather, and a GREAT senior for a rockin' senior session! Even though this is just a sneak peek, I just could not resist showing off my new friend Oscar!
If this picture doesn't put a smile on your face, then I just don't know what to say.
Happy Monday! |

| **I am happy to report that I have gone officially ONE WEEK without caffeine. The headaches subsided around Wednesday of last week, just in time to take home the winning pot from Bunco. |
