Azusa Pacific University Senior Portraits: Brittany

Meet Brittany! She is a senior at Azusa Pacific University and will be graduating with her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology this coming May. I had never met Brittany until the day of our session, but she came via some great referrals from a few of my previous clients, Bonnie who graduated last year from APU, and is ironically graduating with her Masters from USC in May.
Brittany is the sweetest senior I have met and has such a caring heart for all who come in contact with her. During her time at APU, she has grown into a wonderful woman of God and truly exemplifies Christ Like service. Recently, Brittany has been involved in a research project on Autism and will be presenting a paper at a national conference in May, right before she graduates.
*Brittany, it was a true pleasure to meet you and to have the opportunity to capture who you are as a woman of the Lord. I know you are going to do some great things after you graduate from APU, and I can’t wait to see you SHINE! Much love to you, Tira J.

Happy 2nd Birthday to Cedar, Jonah, Jeremiah and Jordan!!

Happy "2nd" Birthday to my most favorite quadruplets!
Cedar, Jonah, Jeremiah and Jordan!
They are precious gifts from above and have brought so much joy to everyone who comes in contact with them. Amy and Phil have done a beautiful job at raising these four little ones, and they deserve so much credit. As most of you know, I have been photographing the Quadruplets aka the Shababies since they were six months old and have had the absolute privilege to watch them grow in front of my camera. You can check out all of their previous sessions and slideshows on the old blog and go to the Shahbaz category. |

You can also click here for their most recent session we did at Travel Town.
Happy Birthday my sweet little friends! |

Nothing warms my heart more than....

Nothing warms my heart more than watching my "Little Ones" grow up!
It brings true joy to my heart to have the opportunity to document the lives of so many little ones. They each have a special place in my heart, and I feel it is an amazing privilege that parents trust me to spend so much time with their little ones to capture those lasting memories. Thank you to all of the parents of the little ones I have photographed in the past, present and future, it is a true honor.
Today is Noah Douglas' "1st" birthday. Happy Birthday Noah!
You are one handsome little guy, and I am delighted to be a part of your life and your parents lives. May your day be filled with your first taste of sugar, lots of balloons and tons of love. Love you! |

Two weeks ago, one of my little clients Jadyn turned 1 as well.
Happy "1st" Birthday Jadyn!!
When I was at lunch yesterday, Jadyn was having lunch with her Mom, Nana and Auntie Sandi. Jadyn started to walk on her first birthday and I was almost in tears because she recognized me from taking her pictures so many times and ran right for me. Here is Jadyn from one of her last sessions in October. She has teeth now and a little more hair and smiles at just about everyone. |

You can check out the old blog under the Babies category to see how much Jadyn and Noah have changed, as well as here on the new blog for Noah's last session.
Tomorrow, there will be a special post for my fab four, so please check back!
Happy Friday! May each and every one of you have a beautiful day and a fabulous weekend! |

Don't be shy

| Oftentimes, I find myself “lurking” on other blogs before I will leave a comment. It’s not about being a lurker, because that sounds silly. It’s about being shy. Hence the reason for this post and the picture below, courtesy of Andree's Illustration & Collages. |

I want everyone who stops by this blog to know that they don’t have to be shy. Even if in the comments, you just say hey and you like purple, that’s okay. Too often I have seen commenter’s on other blogs who have “lurked” for over a year before they made themselves known to the public. I have met some of my most favorite photographer colleagues because I left comments on those blogs so long ago. People whom I trust, that if I ever had to miss a shoot, which I have yet to do, would be there for me. I just love building friendships and networks with others and some of my friends and family joke that instead of the six degrees of separation, it is the three degrees of Tira.
Every time I do a new post, I often wonder what others will think, or if I am saying the right thing, because I am not an expert at all in anything except for tying my shoe. The friend I had lunch with today said that she wanted to know more about me on my blog, even though she had me right there in front of her. I agreed with a crazy tone and said I will try.
When I searched Google Images for an image that represented Shy, some of my favorite characters came up. So, here is a fun factoid about me. In the early eighties, I collected Smurfs. You know, those carefree little blue characters that were on every Saturday morning at 8 a.m. I used to go to the neighborhood Hallmark store with my allowance to purchase one of the newest smurfs and would then put them on the shelf in my bedroom. Kind of like my own little fan club. The crazy news is that I STILL have those little Smurf collectibles. Not sure why, maybe because I thought they would be worth a lot of money some day. Hate to break it to you, but I just checked Ebay, and they aren’t worth much at all.
So yes, I loved the Smurfs when I was in the 6th grade and that is all there is to it. I am sure that everyone collected something when they were kids and still have those items packed away in the garage or at your parents house. C’mon, admit it! We are having a yard sale in a few weeks and the Smurfs won’t be making it to the sale table, so don’t even try to come and buy my most favorite little blue guys and gals.
Happy Wednesday!

Michelle and Randy: Azusa Family Portraits

Their story was foreshadowed almost 30 years ago when Michelle was a student at APU, and Randy had just started working there. Only God knew that their paths would continue to cross over the years and eventually lead to where we are today. You see, Michelle and Randy’s relationship is one that was forged out of the fires of an unwanted divorce and the loss of life and a struggle for what matters most... LOVE and a relationship with the Lord.
I have known both of them for a lot of years, and last fall when I asked if they were “dating” they both confirmed it with big fat smiles from here to China. I knew in my heart that I wanted to be the one to document their love, if they would allow me to, and below is where you can see how in love they really are.
Michelle and Randy, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to document your love. The two of you are such incredible people and I know that God is going to continue to work in your lives and the lives of your families.

| **I almost forgot, the first location we visited for their portrait session was The Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Gardens. Randy especially, has an absolute love for anything and everything that can grow in a garden. If any of you have been to APU, it is because of Randy and his crew that all of the grounds look so amazing. And the second location was one of my favorites, the Claremont Train Station. |
