Friends from the trailer....

For seven and a half years, I worked in a trailer! Yes, some would have considered us, "white trailer trash", but we had the best time no matter what. This trailer is the Office of the Undergraduate Registrar at Azusa Pacific University. This is the place where I met some lifetime friends, friends who have been there through the thick and the thin of life. Births, marriages, breakups, the loss of a loved one, illness, disagreements, educational accomplishments, weight gain and loss (because that is a huge one) and just plain life.
The three pictures below are just a few of the many women who our dear friend and boss Todd has hired over time and I think I can speak for our entire group, that we will be forever grateful to him for hiring us. Todd has been there with all of us through the celebrations and trials of life. We sometimes refer to ourselves as Todd's Girls, even though he has three daughters of his own. Okay, maybe Todd's ladies? Deborah his wife understands.
Some of our dear friends who are not in these pictures that we miss dearly are Shondra, Wendy, Carrie, Darlene and Sheila. If I missed someone, please forgive me.
The picture below was taken just a few days ago, as Stephanie was visiting from Oklahoma, and Erin was visiting from Michigan.

The picture below was taken in Colorado in 2005 when Marsha and Dave were married. If you have been reading my blog (new and old) for a while, you will remember that Marsha is Noah's Mom.

This picture was taken in 2004 when our dear Erin got married. Erin was our student worker for four years and we loved her so much and now if you refer to the picture at the top, she is all grown up with a little one of her own, Mr. Brody.
From L to R back to front: Terah, Erin, Erin (that's not a typo, we had two Erin's) Mona, Todd, Marsha, Cyri, Allyson, Kelsy, Tira, our beloved Shirley, Jenny and Priscilla. |

He's my one and only, but also my second!

He is my one and only, my one true love! David, my husband. He has been by my side for over a decade now and I love him more every single day we are together. He is kind, loving, thoughtful, handsome, and an extremely talented photographer; he is also my second shooter. When I need him either for a wedding, or to capture that unique perspective at a portrait session, he is there by my side.
It's David, not Dave, and he is the one who nails just about every single shot he takes. I get the shots too, but because he is always off in the distance, not becoming "besties" with the clients, he can truly focus on getting the shot. You shouldn't be intimidated by his size or his deep voice, as he really is the most genuine guy you will meet. And even though he has a tendency to tell it like it really is or should be, you will thank him later.
I love that I have him by my side throughout this entire photography journey, because without him, I would not be where I am today.
Below is one of our most favorite images our friend Hanssie took of us back in January. We think it truly exemplifies our love and care for each other and this industry. We will share some more images from this shoot soon, but we wanted to begin with this.
Have a great Wednesday! |

The Hough Family: 2009

Pink lipgloss, black crocs, Tony from school, and ninja's are all the things that Abby and Josh laughed at while doing their family portrait session yesterday. I can't believe how much they have grown, and it was a true honor to photograph Sandy, Rue, Abby and Josh. I brought along some balloons, flowers and my classic black chair, that has only made one other appearance thus far for their session. We ventured over to an open area close to their home and I was able capture this amazing family in their element. Laughing all the time, running around, and making jokes like there is no tomorrow, this family brings true joy to my heart, and to the hearts of many others who know them.
Rue and Sandy, thank you so much for the opportunity to photograph you and your beautiful family! Love you guys!

Josh was reciting a Psalm from the Bible I was taking this picture.

Anyway...

In one of my meetings on campus this week, a friend shared the passage below as part of her devotion. A faculty member had actually shared it with her a while back, and now I am going to share it with you. I did a little research on the passage and found that Mother Theresa had something similar to this text hanging on the walls of the orphanages. A little disclaimer; I am no Theologian, or grand master at understanding how and why God does things in our lives, and this blog will often have random entries such as this because that is who I am. What I do know is that the passage below spoke to me yesterday and I hope you will take the time to read it, think about it, and maybe leave a comment below as to how it touched you. Technorati Profile
Anyway
People are often unreasonable, Illogical, and self-centered
Forgive them anyway
If you are kind People may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives
Be kind anyway
If you are successful, You will win some false friends and some true enemies
Succeed anyway
If you are honest and frank, People may cheat you
Be honest and frank anyway
What you spend years building, Someone could destroy overnight
Build anyway
If you find serenity and happiness, They may be jealous
Be happy anyway
The good you do today, People will often forget tomorrow
Do good anyway
Give the world the best you have, And it may never be enough
Give the world the best you've got anyway
You see, in the final analysis It is between you and God . . .
It never was between you and them anyway
Happy Friday!

Senior Portraits & Announcements: Deadlines

For the past few years, I have had the privilege to photograph both high school and college seniors for their senior portraits. Along with taking their photographs, I also designed custom graduation announcements for each of them to share with family and friends, their greatest achievements. When I graduated with both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, I had my husband take my portraits, and I too, designed my own announcements that reflected who I was at the time. I didn't want those boring white announcements with silver foil font and no character.
If you are interested in having your senior portraits done, please refer to the deadlines we are working with for the next two commencement ceremonies at Azusa Pacific University. I would be honored to celebrate with you!
If you are a high school senior, please connect with us directly.
*Please note that you MUST be cleared by the Office of the Registrar before you schedule your session with us. We want for you and your family to celebrate your accomplishments, and not have a missing requirement stand in the way. If you catch my drift! |
