Thank you for a great 2009!

What an amazing year 2009 has been!

My life has been changed for the better by so many people. My business has completely blossomed and words cannot even express how thankful I am to my husband, my family, my friends, other photographers, and most of all, YOU, MY CLIENTS! It is because of all of you that I had the opportunity to capture your lives with my camera. We have laughed together, shed tears together, celebrated some pretty momentous occasions together, watched your little ones grow up, and even figured out that many of you know each other, not because of me, but because of our Lord! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making 2009 a successful year for Tira J Photography. As we begin 2010, I am excited to meet new clients, make new friends, and capture even more lives with my camera.

Whip It Up Wednesday: Taco Soup

Whew! Made it just in the nick of time to get the Whip It Up Wednesday post done for today. It took me almost two hours to get home from my Mom's house which is only 22 miles away. Anyways, here's the last Whip It Up Wednesday for 2009!

Taco Soup! It is one of our favorites and it came out of the same cookbook the Christmas Stew came out of. You can find that cookbook here on Amazon.

Taco Soup

Makes 6-8 servings

1 lb. ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
16-oz. can Mexican-style tomatoes (Rotel)
16-oz. can ranch-style beans
16-oz. can whole-kernel corn, undrained
16-oz. can kidney beans, undrained
16-oz. can black beans,undrained
16 oz. jar picante sauce
corn or tortilla chips
sour cream
shredded cheddar cheese

1. Brown meat and onions in skillet. We used the taco seasoning mix and two cloves of garlic for some extra flavoring. And we don't drain the meet, as also adds some extra flavors.
2. Combine with all other vegetables and picante sauce in slow cooker. *If you want to alleviate some extra gas, it is okay to drain all of the veggies.
3. Cover. Cook on low 4-6 hours.
4. Serve with corn or tortilla chips, sour cream, and shredded cheese as toppings.

*Remember that we have a large 6.5 quart cooker so we typically double our recipes. Makes for yummy left overs.

Enjoy!

Be sure to come back next week, we will be posting one of our favorite New Year's Day snacks.

She's already on January 23rd!

I am sure that we have all given the Christmas gifts that will last a lifetime, or ones that the recipient will remember forever. Well, this Christmas, we gave my Mom a daily Sudoku puzzle calendar and she is already on January 23rd. Um right Mom, it is only December 29th! She normally works on the weekly Sudoku puzzles from the newspapers and magazines. Now I think we have created a crazy woman! I think by her birthday in May, we will need to purchase some new puzzles for her because she will have already finished the year!

What great gifts did you give this year?

Los Angeles River Center Wedding, Lita & David

Merry Christmas! This is a special Christmas present for our bride and groom from last weekend!

Lita & David's special day was even more than special. It was romantic, elegant, fun, and delightful! Seriously! I never thought I would have so much fun at a wedding with "old friends"! Lita is a very special person and she waited patiently for God to place the perfect man in her life, and that was David. He is tall, strong, smart, funny, and good looking! They are perfect for each other and we were thrilled to be a part of their big day where they would go before God, their family and all their friends to profess their love for one another. Their ceremony was standing room only at the Los Angeles River Center and it was just gorgeous.

*Lita and David, thank you so very much for giving David and I the opportunity to document your love for one another on your special day. We cannot wait to see how God is going to work in your lives and as you begin to build your life together. We love you guys! Tira J & David.

They did the one thing that I love at all weddings, the first look. Once I "shooshed" the grooms men way, it was the perfect moment for them.

Dear Lita, you are GORGEOUS!! I guess now would be a great time to begin to tell you about all of the amazing flowers. Lita did ALL her own flowers. Just wait, it gets better!

Have you ever seen a more amazing and beautiful bouquet? It was heavy, but totally worth it!

Fight On! David is a USC Alumni, so we had to honor our Trojans.

One of my favorites of the ladies. Aren't they sassy?

The junior grooms men. They were so fun to work with. Lita gave them little ear phones like the secret service wear when they walked in for the ceremony.

Again, here are more of the amazing details with the gorgeous flowers. A special thank you to my wonderful husband David who took all of the detail shots. He rocks!

Now would be a great time to tell you about the "Kissing Kard"! Every table had a "Kissing Kard" and it instructed the guests to sing a love song to Lita and David. In return, Lita and David were to kiss. Much more fun that the traditional clinging of the glasses. Above you can see more details and below you can see some of the fun everyone had with singing to the bride and groom. The best was when the wedding party and their spouses sang "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" by the Righteous Brothers.

Merry Christmas

We hope each of you have a very special Christmas this year and take the time to treasure every moment you have with your family and those close to your heart. As I do my best to be on the computer for a limited amount of time for the next few days, I am thinking about some of the special Christmas' I had growing up when my Dad was still around and then after he passed away.

Our Christmas tradition is to celebrate Jesus' birth on Christmas Eve. Last night we ate a meal at my Mom's house, attended a Christmas Eve service and then came home to open the gifts that have been placed under the tree while eating some delectable goodies made by my Mom. And while we are at church, Santa pays a visit! My friend April just shared with her boys the truth about Santa and I think I was about the same age when I figured out who that man with the white beard and the red velvet suit really was. This year, we are not giving and receiving as many gifts, as I think what is most important is spending quality time with family. Life is too short to let it pass by. Today, on Christmas Day, my will come to our house and we continue to eat more good food, enjoy each others company and play some games.

What are some of your Christmas traditions?

Merry Christmas! Love, Tira J, and David. We can't forget Tink & Buzz! They have been busy trying to remove the tree skirt from the tree and Tink has been drinking the water!
